Rural Maternity New Emerging Team and the Northern Health Authority

The goal of this meeting was to bring representatives together with the research team to articulate a responsive program of research on rural maternity care. In attendance were 11 representatives from 5 health authorities, including Interior, Vancouver Coastal, Vancouver Island, Northern, and the Provincial Health Services Association. The information gathered and share at the symposium was integrated into the research proposal, "Appropriate Access to Maternity Services for Rural Women: Towards a Comprehensive Evidence Base for Policy and Planning" and was submitted to the Canadian Institues of Health Reseach's "Promoting Equity and Reducing Health Disparities for Vulnerable Populations" grant call.
