Welcome to the webpage of The Rural Maternity Care New Emerging Team (RM-NET). We are a team of academic and community-based researchers, policy makers, administrators and other key stakeholders working together to achieve a comprehensive understanding of rural maternity care services in British Columbia .

Our goals are to:

  • Investigate the state of maternity care services in rural BC from multiple perspectives
  • Improve understanding of the consequences for British Columbians trying to access, provide and administer maternity care in rural BC
  • Provide evidence-based research to affect policy and practice decisions for maternity care in BC
  • Support research that is relevant to rural BC communities

Please visit the rest of our website to learn more about our program of research in rural maternity care. If you have something to add to our website, please post a message in the Discussion Group (currently on hiatus) or email our website administrator at info@ruralmatresearch.com

The RM-NET is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and housed within the University of British Columbia ’s Department of Family Practice at the B.C. Women’s Hospital. The RM-NET was established in August 2004.
